This beautiful Dressing Gown from the 1920's is a rare find, particularly in rich jewel tones like this one. The color can best be described as a deep pink coral. The Chantilly Lace is Ecru in color and the cut work is amazingly ornate. It reflects all of the elegant attention to detail that was so typical of the Roaring 20's. I have two of these dressing gowns that are very similar (the other is a deep cranberry and is also listed) which I acquired from the same estate. Although this robe is sturdy and in very wearable condition, I'd recommend that it be worn considerately. At almost 100 years old, if one were to brush firmly up against say a rough surface or an abrasive fabric (as may be found on some furniture) it would likely rub a bald spot on the velvet. Fully silk lined and the lining is in excellent condition. Internal silk closure ties are fully in tact and it closes externally with the original faceted glass button. A truly spectacular piece from an equally spectacular period!
This Dressing Gown is in very good vintage condition. There are a few stains (slightly darker spots) on the lace (perhaps drippings from long gone afternoon tea) and there are a few small spots, two on the left side above the bust and next to the lace, and 3 or 4 on the right side about waist high and nearer to the side seam, (none any bigger than an apple seed at most) where old stains (perhaps perfume oil or something similar) have eaten at the fabric. They look slightly similar to burn marks but not as dark and not all the way through like a burn would be. A few press marks on the velvet here and there, nothing out of the ordinary for it's age though. Lace and silk lining are all in excellent condition. Clean under the arms as well! I believe that despite the relatively few flaws, given it's age, quality and overall condition, it may easily be of museum quality.
