We have been in the local vintage arena for many years now and we've acquired pieces from across the globe. It is wonderful to bring our collection online and to be able to offer our pieces to sophisticated fashionistas far and wide.

In true Silver Screen Starlet fashion, our collection is primarily comprised of the more luxurious end of vintage couture. We have an extremely discriminating eye when it comes to the condition and quality of a piece before we will consider aquisition. Depending on the piece, it can require an extraordinary act of discipline to decide to pass on something that just takes your breath away, if you aren't bent on details.  Indeed on many an occasion, we've had to do that very thing when the item condition could not withstand our scrutiny.

We prefer to seek out the rarer jewels that somehow made it through time without accumulating the mileage. It always boggles the mind to happen upon a velvet and chantilly lace dressing gown, circa early 1900's or 1920's, that appears as though it were fresh off the needle. It re-defines the meaning of "timeless" in the most spectacular and tangible way...a rare treat indeed.

It would be fair to say that the vintage niche is it's own special brand of treasure hunting and we are thankful for the privilege of being able to do something we love. We feel that the appeal often has as much to do with history as it does with fashion and artisanship. What people wear is more than just a choice of outward, individual expression. The fashion of an era also tells us stories about what life was like, what the common values were, what trends were popular and why, what the state of the general economy was, how industrious a generation was, which directions the artistic winds blew and so many other interesting things. In many ways, it's like taking a journey back through time.
