This beautiful Dressing Gown from the late 1920's or early 1930's is a rare find, particularly in rich jewel tones like this one.  The deep 'Christmas Cranberry' color is still bold and rich with no signs of fading .  The Chantilly Lace is Ecru in color and the cutwork is amazingly ornate.  It reflects all of the elegant attention to detail that was so typical of the Roaring 20's.  I have two of these dressing gowns that are very similar (the other is a pink coral color and is also listed) which I acquired from the same estate.  Unlike the pink coral one however, the velvet on this one is thicker, very plush and is very strong.  There are no thinning spots and it can be worn confidently.  It closes externally with matching velvet ties.  A truly spectacular piece from an equally spectacular period!
This Dressing Gown is in very good vintage condition.  There looks to have been a small repair under one of the arms as if there was a hole in the seam.  There are a few very small dark spots (almost looks like tiny drips of ink or something) as well as a small separation in the velvet fabric toward the bottom lace hem on the back.  These flaws are shown in close up photos (with a penny for scale) which you can click on to enlarge, in the slideshow below. Other than that, it's in remarkably good condition for it's age.  The velvet & lace are in excellent condition.  Clean under the arms as well!  It's a good quality, collectors piece for the vintage connoisseur.
